Weight Loss Creams and Supplements you should Avoid

Many weight loss creams and supplements have been known to cause serious side effects. We recommend that you always read the labels when shopping and keep the following list of bad ingredients on your mobile device for future reference.

Preservatives that release Formaldehyde – found in many cosmetics and weight loss creams, these agents,DMDM hydantoin, diazolidinyl urea, imidazolidinyl urea, methenamine, quaternium-15, and sodium hydroxymethylglycinate, are known to slowly release formaldehyde, a substance that has been classified as a carcinogen. Some of them can also trigger allergic reactions and irritate the skin.

Fragrance or Parfum – an ingredient commonly used in many of the weight loss creams you will find on the market, it actually includes a mixture of several chemical substances. There are about 3000 substances that can be used as fragrances. They are responsible for migraines, asthma attacks and allergies and are very detrimental to our environment.

Siloxanes – cyclomethicone and ingredients ending in “siloxane” are silicone based ingredients that harm the endocrine system and have been known to cause uterine tumors.

PEG compounds – polyethylene glycols, these silicone based ingredients can harm the nervous system and are a known carcinogen.

When it comes to supplements, here are the ingredients you should always avoid:

Phenolphthalein – this substance used in weight loss supplements has been listed by the FDA as a possible carcinogen.

Sibutramine – an ingredient found in supplements that raises the risks of heart attacks and strokes.

Clenbuterol – illegal in human consumption, it is absorbed by muscle tissue and therefore can cause damage to the heart.

Parabens are used in many weight loss creams as preservatives. There is controversy as to their side effects because, in some cases, they may interfere with the endocrine system due to their ability to mimic estrogen. There is a general consensus that, in small quantities, parabens are metabolized and excreted without causing any harm and it is for that reason that they are used by almost all the better cosmetic formulations. The alternative of keeping the preservative free cosmetics refrigerated is not a good solution for any consumers unless they have a particular sensitivity to parabens.

Pills that include Librium, Prozac and Fenproporex, a stimulant – found in many weight loss supplements such as the Brazilian Diet Pill, that has been known to alter human personality and cause other problems such as hypersensitivity to touch.

Qnexa, Contrave and other drug mixtures – these pills contain drugs used to treat addictions and depression and pose a danger to the heart, raising the chances of a heart attack.

Some of these bad supplements can be used for short periods of time to achieve a specific goal under professional guidance.

Some safer weight loss alternatives are natural formulations such as Garcinia Cambogia Extract or Raspberry Ketones.
